چکیده
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the momentum and energy transfer in compressible turbulent boundary layers based on integral identities. By considering data obtained from direct numerical simulations for wide parameter range, superordinate influences compressibility, wall heat pressure gradient terms governing equations are identified visualized. allows us both to determine what degree cases corresponding different Mach number, pressure-gradient conditions have physically comparable behaviour design boundary-layer with specific sought-after behaviour. To this end, newly formulated identities skin-friction coefficient $c_f$ heat-transfer $c_h$ wall-normal integrals non-dimensional total-enthalpy derived evaluated. As individual resulting stay formally close equations, further evaluation common arguments ‘strong’ Reynolds analogy an perspective. A particular formulation Eckert number $Ec$ is proposed as similarity parameter, mapping numbers conditions.

Coherent structures in turbulent boundary layers with adverse pressure gradients
The coherent structures in turbulent boundary layers (TBLs) subjected to adverse pressure gradients (APGs) were investigated by analyzing a database of direct numerical simulations. The equilibrium adverse pressure gradient flows were established by using a power law free-stream distribution. The population trends of the spanwise vortices show that the outer regions of the APG TBLs are densely ...
متن کاملAssessment of inflow boundary conditions for compressible turbulent boundary layers
A description of different inflow methodologies for turbulent boundary layers, including validity and limitations, is presented. We show that the use of genuine periodic boundary conditions, in which no alteration of the governing equations is made, results in growing mean flow and decaying turbulence. Premises under which the usage is valid are presented and explained, and comparisons with the...
متن کاملAn experiment on the adiabatic compressible turbulent boundary layer in adverse and favourable pressure gradients
A wind-tunnel model was developed to study the two-dimensional turbulent boundary layer in adverse and favourable pressure gradients with out the effects of streamwise surface curvature. Experiments were performed at Mach 4 with an adiabatic wall, and mean flow measurements within the boundary layer were obtained. The data, when viewed in the velocity transformation suggested by Van Driest, sho...
متن کاملBoundary Layers and Heat Transfer on a Rotating Rough Disk
The study of flow and heat transfer over rotating circular disks is of great practical importance in understanding the cooling of rotatory machinery such as turbines, electric motors and design and manufacturing of computer disk drives. This paper presents an analysis of the flow and heat transfer over a heated infinite permeable rough disk. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the elliptic Nav...
